Need help with starbucks ad?
jason asked:
I need some major help with an ad. I have an ebook of starbucks recipes that i am trying to sell and the ad i created for google adsense doesn’t seem to be making much money. We still haven’t sold one ebook yet. Currently the ad looks like this.
Starbucks Recipes $7
Brew your own starbucks coffee. (line 1)
34 pages of starbucks recipes. (line 2)
Ebookdealout.tk
(it doesn’t say line 1 etc.) The max amount of characters and spaces i can use is 35 for lines 1 and 2. Anyone that can give me a description to use that makes sales will receive the starbucks ebook at no charge via email. Note: I will only give out the ebook once on March 23, 2007, so the sooner you can help the better. Thanks in advance.

As an experienced Google adwords customer, over 5 years, I would rewrite like this:
Starbucks Recipe Book
Recipe Secrets Finally Revealed
34 Pages, Brew it Yourself & Save
I would leave this price out, let them get to your salespitch page before they learn that its gonna cost them.
Good Luck
The first answer above is great!
If the landing page for your ad is the homepage, you’re in violation of AdWords policy with the popup, and the free hosting does not add to anyone’s confidence.
If you’re going to write an ad for Starbucks recipes, then the landing page should be for the starbucks recipes, not all kinds of offers that only detract from visitor attention.
If the salesletter for the starbucks recipes is what’s on the site now, perhaps you would consider writing a few more and testing them. I like starbucks recipes and even if I didn’t already get the ebook for free, I wouldn’t pay for it online - even for $7 - from any free hosting web site. Maybe that’s just me. I understand that sometimes free is all you have to work with, though.
Improve the sales letter and help build confidence in the buyer. That will help you. Do some search for free copywriting tutorials or something and you can probably learn for free.
well my web site is

I agree with keeping the price out of the ad. Are you receiving clickthroughs? Is your report showing that your ad is even showing up on other sites? Another problem might be that there just aren’t enough relevant websites to show your ad.
I use Adwords, personally, which bases your position on your bid. I do not know how Adsense works, but if it is anything like that, I would suggest upping your price per clickthrough before trying anything else. In cases like this sometimes position on a list trumps wording. But, if you really need to swap your description around, try something a bit more exclamatory. “Love Starbucks? Save time and money! Brew your favorite coffee at home! Recipes at Ebookdealout.tk.”
But I do have to toss in a disclaimer that depending on the specifics of your “recipes” you could be dabbling into some really messy legal problems. Sure, people post recipes up all over, but trying to make a profit off them? Sometimes that’s the final straw for lawyers. Make sure you are free and clear and not giving out proprietary information before you happen to make a sale.
